Why we built an AI research assistant for the private investor who wants to think independently.

About this research tool

The problem we set out to solve

Private investors today have access to more market information than at any previous point in history. Company filings, analyst commentary, economic data, sector reports, news feeds — the volume is extraordinary. Yet access to information is not the same as understanding it. For most private investors, the challenge is not finding data. It is knowing which data matters, what it implies, and how it connects to a decision they are actually trying to make.

We built this research tool because we believed that the gap between information and understanding was solvable — not by giving investors more data, but by giving them a better way to work with what they already have. The assistant is designed to help you think more rigorously: to organise your research, surface the assumptions you have not yet questioned, and map the trade-offs between competing views before you commit to any of them.

The problem we set out to solve

Our approach to independent thinking

There is a meaningful difference between being told what to think and being helped to think well. this research tool is firmly on the second side of that line. The assistant does not generate buy or sell signals, does not score assets, and does not steer you towards a particular conclusion. Its job is to make your own reasoning more visible and more testable — to ask the questions you might not have asked yourself, and to help you see where your view depends on assumptions that deserve scrutiny.

This matters because investment decisions are personal. They depend on your circumstances, your time horizon, your tolerance for uncertainty, and your own judgement about what the evidence means. No AI assistant can substitute for that judgement. What it can do is help you exercise it more carefully. That is the only kind of help we are interested in offering.

Research support, not financial advice

this research tool is a research tool. It is not a regulated financial adviser, and it does not provide personalised financial advice. If you need guidance that takes your full financial situation into account — your income, your liabilities, your tax position, your long-term goals — you should speak to a qualified professional who is authorised to give that kind of advice. We are clear about this boundary because we think it matters, and because blurring it would not serve you.

What we do offer is a structured, honest and genuinely useful research environment for the investor who wants to do their own thinking. We believe that private investors who take their research seriously deserve tools that match their ambition — tools that challenge them, support them, and help them arrive at views they can genuinely own. That is what this research tool is for.
